Biography

Lefteris Voulgarakis, also known as DJ Lefteris 55, is one of the most well-known DJs in Chania.

His journey began in 1984, while he was still in high school, when he developed a strong passion for music especially disco. From that moment on, he knew he wanted to dedicate himself to music.

His first professional steps as a DJ took place in 1988 at Rock Cardillac, in his hometown of Alikianos. This was where he truly began to learn the art and craft of playing music.

In 1989, he gained further experience working at the radio station Venus 91 FM in Chania. As a newly established station at the time, it provided him with valuable knowledge and exposure to the world of DJing. Dimitris Christodoulakis, the founder of the station, played a key role in encouraging Lefteris to continue pursuing his passion. His support helped shape Lefteris’s path in the music industry.

In 1994, at just 22 years old, Lefteris opened his own music bar, Dielefsis Scandinavian DJ Bar, located in the popular tourist area of Platanias, Crete. What started as a fun idea soon grew into a long-lasting success. Today, more than 31 years later, the bar remains a vibrant destination known for its great atmosphere and music. Many visitors return year after year, not only for the experience but also for Lefteris himself. At Dielefsis, guests quickly become part of the family.

Balancing his own bar while performing at other venues is only possible because of Lefteris’s deep love for what he does. For him, music is not just a profession—it is a lifelong passion. Financial success has always come second to his dedication to music.

Lefteris believes that music is a powerful source of energy and inspiration. Its constant evolution keeps it exciting, ensuring that it never becomes repetitive or dull.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, he never stopped playing music. Instead, he used the time to grow both personally and professionally, emerging stronger than ever—with a career and story that few DJs can match.
